


Tarasa Parish
St. Catherine of Alexandria Tarasaa Parish is located in the rural Tana Delta sub-county within the Catholic Diocese of Malindi, Coast Province, Kenya. Spanning approximately 40 square kilometers, the parish was established in 1992 and initially entrusted to the Mill Hill Missionaries.
In 2007, the parish transitioned to diocesan administration, and in 2014, it came under the care of FIDEI DONUM priests from the Diocese of Meru. In 2022, administration reverted to the diocese. As of 12th December 2023, the parish has been entrusted to the Missionaries of Africa (White Fathers).
In the parish there are two communities of Sisters. The Franscan Missionaries of St Francis of Assisi and the Sisters of the Blessed Virgin. They help in schools and the Catholic dispensary.
Tarasaa Parish is about 90 kilometres away from the town of Malindi and about 10 km away from Garisa – Lamu Road. This region has a population of about 4,500 people of which about 80% are Muslims and the remaining 20% are Christians.
